The order for this construction was based on reformulating an existing house of a family with new members and a different way to enjoy it during the holidays. The clients wanted a barbecue area and a garage. Estudio Galera proposed reformulating the request for a barbecue area that could not exceed 40 m² on the lot. A place to store the quadricycles, a laundry and service area with direct access from the street along a side road was designed to be half-buried on a slope at the back of the lot. Above the laundry, the barbecue area at the same level of the existing house opening to the park with a complete view of the surroundings. The location of openings and panels were designed to enhance cross ventilation and natural lighting. The new building is linked to the existing house by a concrete pergola, the lights and shadows unify surfaces; there is no difference between the old and the new constructions. Inside, a kitchen work top with a fixed support at one end and hung from two clamps on the other end was designed. This was intended to free up the space underneath and to surprise the visitor.
